More information about the foundation

The present and future are marked by social differentiation through aestheticisation, enhancement of distinction through design, criticism of industrial production, design as a unique discipline and the digitisation and personalisation of design. These developments influence our lives and co-existence, requiring information, reflection and communication. On 12 September 2011, the not-for-profit German Design Museum Foundation was established as a public foundation with legal capacity. It was founded by the German Design Council.

Our innovative funding activities and programmes enrich the German foundation landscape and are implemented in the areas of art and culture, science and research, training and advanced training. We have adopted a targeted, interdisciplinary strategy to raise awareness of and exposure to design with the support of well-known trustees and enthusiastic cooperation partners.

The administration of the German Design Museum Foundation is located in Frankfurt am Main.
